Matt Dengler, Lacretta, and More to Join Cast of Avenue Q

Previously announced Gizel Jiménez will take on the role of Kate Monster as the begins its 16th year onstage in New York.

Avenue Q has announced new cast members in its current off-Broadway run at New World Stages. Matt Dengler (Princeton, Rod), Lacretta (Gary Coleman), Jamie Glickman (Mrs. T, Bear, and others), and Rob Morrison (ensemble) join the previously announced Gizel Jiménez (Kate Monster, Lucy, and others) as it begins its 16th year onstage in New York.

The rest of the company includes longtime company members Nicholas Kohn (Brian), Jason Jacoby (Nicky, Trekkie Monster, and others), Michael Liscio Jr. and Imari Hardon (swings), and Katie Boren (ensemble). Hazel Anne Raymundo will play Christmas Eve through November 4, when Grace Choi will return to the part.

Avenue Q has music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, a book by Jeff Whitty, and is directed by Jason Moore. Based on an original concept by Lopez and Marx, the show features puppets conceived and designed by Rick Lyon. Avenue Q premiered off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre in March 2003 before transferring to Broadway's John Golden Theatre, where it opened July 31 of that same year. It is the recipient of Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Original Score.
