Technology journalist and television personality David Pogue will make a celebrity guest appearance in 39 Steps at the 8pm performance on Saturday, September 26, at the Union Square Theatre.

Pogue is the founder of Yahoo Tech and served as a personal-technology columnist for the New York Times for 13 years. He is also a monthly columnist for Scientific American and hosts science shows on PBS' NOVA.

"David Pogue is the most hi-tech of reporters in his field. We are thrilled to have him 'Step' into our low-tech show for one night only, in a role that can only be described as 'something to die for,'" says lead producer Douglas Denoff. "This will be his theatrical debut, and are excited for him to grace the historic Union Square Theatre stage as our first guest star. We hope that David breaks a leg, and not his iPhone!"

As previously announced, original Broadway and off-Broadway cast member Arnie Burton will depart the production on Monday, September 28, following his 1,000th performance as Man #2/Clown #2. Cameron Pow (The Lion King) will take over for Burton beginning Wednesday, September 30.

39 Steps is adapted by Tony-nominated author Patrick Barlow from an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon, and based on the book by John Buchan as well as the classic 1935 Alfred Hitchcock film. The cast currently features Robert Petkoff (All the Way) as Richard Hannay, the dashing hero racing to solve the mystery of the 39 Steps while trying to clear his name; Brittany Vicars as the fetching Pamela, Annabella, and Margaret; and Billy Carter in the all-encompassing role of "Clown #1." This production reunites the entire original creative team, including Tony-nominated director Maria Aitken, Tony-winning lighting designer Kevin Adams, Tony-winning sound designer Mic Pool, and Tony-nominated scenic and costume designer Peter McKintosh.
