Scott Ellis directs Roundabout Theatre Company’s musical revival, which also stars Gavin Creel and Michael McGrath.
Broadway alums Zachary Levi (First Date), Laura Benanti (Women on the Verge…), Jane Krakowski (Nine), and Gavin Creel (The Book of Mormon) will return to the Great White Way tonight as Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joe Masteroff's She Loves Me opens at Studio 54.
The classic musical is inspired by Miklós László's play Parfumerie, which also served as the inspiration for the films The Shop Around the Corner and You've Got Mail. The work tells the story of Amalia and Georg, a pair of perfume-shop coworkers engaged in a battle of wits who unknowingly become romantic pen pals.
In addition to Levi, Benanti, Krakowski, and Creel, She Loves Me features Michael McGrath, Nicholas Barasch, and Peter Bartlett. The ensemble is made up of Cameron Adams, Alison Cimmet, Justin Bowen, Preston Truman Boyd, Benjamin Eakeley, Sara Edwards, Michael Fatica, Gina Ferrall, Jenifer Foote, Andrew Kober, Laura Shoop, and Jim Walton.
Scott Ellis directs the Broadway production, which has choreography by Warren Carlyle and musical direction by Paul Gemignani. The creative team includes David Rockwell (sets), Jeff Mahshie (costumes), Don Holder (lights), Jon Weston (sound), Larry Hochman (orchestrations), and David Krane (dance arrangements and incidental music).
