Actors William H. Macy and French Stewart, both of whom have considerable stage experience in addition to their work in film and television, will deliver keynote presentations at this year’s SRO Conference, to be held June 2 and 3 at the University of Southern California.
The event, entitled “Rethink, Rebuild, Revive,” will include panels and discussions on the business and art of running a theater or any type of performing arts organization in Los Angeles. SRO is designed to help organizations become more productive, professional, and profitable by focusing on budgeting, marketing and planning. Stewart’s keynote will be delivered on June 2 and Macy’s on June 3. Each speech will be followed by a brief question-and-answer session.
Macy, best known for his Oscar-nominated role in Fargo, founded the St. Nicholas Theatre and acting troupe with playwright David Mamet and has performed in many of Mamet’s plays and films. Recently, he directed Mamet’s drama Oleanna at West Hollywood’s Tiffany Theater.
Stewart, remembered as the bizarre Harry on NBC’s long-running sitcom Third Rock from the Sun, is a member of Hollywood’s Cast Theatre, where he performed for five years in the cult hit Zombie Attack. This June, he will star in The Nerd at Burbank’s Colony Theatre.
The fee to attend the conference is $270 for the first person and $225 for each additional person. To register, phone 213-614-0556, extension 12, or vist the website www.theatrela.org. Special hotels rates are available for out-of-town registrants at the Radisson Hotel, Midtown.
