Thomas Bradshaw's Southern Promises Added to Flea's New Season

The Flea has announced its 2018-19 season.
The season kicks off with Geraldine Inoa's Scraps, the inaugural recipient of the Shonda Rhimes Unsung Voices Playwriting Commission. Directed by Niegel Smith and featuring the Flea's resident acting company, the Bats, the work follows four black teenagers whose friend is shot by a white police officer. It runs August 15-September 24.
Todd Solondz's Emma and Max, directed by the author, will run October 1-28. Idris Goodwin's Hype Man, directed by Kristan Seemel and Niegel Smith, will follow, November 10-December 10. The winter season will feature Kristiana Rae Colón's Good Friday, February 11, 2019-March 18, 2019.
In the spring, the Flea will offer a revival of Thomas Bradshaw's 2008 drama Southern Promises, which is inspired by the story of slave Henry "Box" Brown, who in 1849 arranged to have himself packaged and shipped to abolitionists in the North. It runs March 11, 2019-April 14, 2019.
The Flea also continues its family program Cereals @ The Flea with Not My Monster by Nick Giandello, which will play weekends throughout the fall and winter. Flea Fridays and the late-night series Serials will also return.
