David Seidler’s The King’s Speech has announced an early closing for its West End run at Wyndham’s Theatre, and will now end its engagement May 12.

The play centers on how King George VI conquered his debilitating stammer with the help of maverick speech therapist Lionel Logue and was the inspiration for Seidler’s Academy Award-winning screenplay for the award-winning film of the same name.

Adrian Noble has directed the production, which features designs by Anthony Ward. Prior to its London engagement, the production played a U.K. tour.

The cast includes Charles Edwards as King George VI, Jonathan Hyde as Lionel Logue, Emma Fielding as Queen Elizabeth, Ian McNeice as Winston Churchill, Michael Feast as Cosmo Lang, Joss Ackland as King George V, Charlotte Randle as Myrtle Logue, David Killick as Stanley Baldwin, and Daniel Betts as King Edward VIII.
