Actor Michael McKean who co-stars in the Broadway revival of Gore Vidal’s The Best Man was struck by a car at the intersection of West 86th Street and Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side on Tuesday afternoon, May 22 and remains hospitalized.
According to reports, the actor is in stable condition. He suffered a broken leg and doctors are still determining if he incurred other injuries.
His many other stage credits include Hairspray, King Lear, Harps & Angels, A Second Hand Memory, and Our Town. His many film and television credits include This is Spinal Tap, Best in Show, and Laverne & Shirley.
The play, which performs at the Schoenfeld Theatre, is set at the national convention where two candidates are vying for their party’s nomination during the primary season. McKean plays the role of campaign manager Dick Jensen.
