Theatre for a New Audience has postponed the first preview of its production of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, which will now begin March 19. The opening date of March 26 remains the same, with the production scheduled to close April 12. David Esbjornson directs.
In addition, Casey Biggs has replaced Patrick Page in the role of Claudius. According to a press statement, Page withdrew from the production due to illness. Biggs’ stage credits include Pride’s Crossing, The Taming of the Shrew, All the King’s Men, and Long Day’s Journey Into Night. He portrayed Cardassian Damar in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine with other film/television credits including Broken Arrow, Dragonfly, and The Pelican Brief.
The cast of Hamlet also features Christian Camargo in the title role, with Alyssa Bresnahan (Gertrude), Alvin Epstein (Polonius), Graham Hamilton (Laertes), Jennifer Ikeda (Ophelia), Scott Drummond (Bernardo), Jonathan Fried (The Ghost), Sean Haberle (Marcellus), Tom Hammond (Horatio), John Christopher Jones (Gravedigger), Craig Pattison (Rosencrantz), Ryan Quinn (The Player Queen and Osiric), Robert Stattel (The Player King), and Richard Topol (Guildenstern).
The creative team features Antje Ellermann (sets), Beth Clancy (costumes), Marcus Doshi (lighting), Sven Ortel (projections), and Jane Shaw (sound and music).
