Terrence Mann, Nancy Lemenager, and John Todd will star in the world premiere of Christopher D’Amboise’s The Studio, which will run at South Coast Repertory, March 31-May 7.
In the piece, which is written, directed, and choreorgraphed by D’Amboise, a celebrated but reclusive choreographer (Mann) is creating a new ballet for two dancers, a veteran and newcomer. D’Amboise was a principal director for New York City Ballet and is now one of the ballet world’s most in-demand choreographers. In addition, he starred on Broadway in Song and Dance, for which he received a Tony Award nomination. Mann is married to D’Amboise’s sister, the actress/dancer Charlotte D’Amboise.
The show’s creative team includes Christopher Barreca (sets), Angela Balogh Calin (costumes), Peter Maradudin (lights), B.C. Keller (sound), and Karl Fredrik Lundeberg (composer).
Mann is a two-time Tony nominee for his work in Beauty and the Beast and Les Miserables. His many Broadway credits inlude Lennon, Cats, and Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. Lemenager has starred on Broadway in Movin’ Out and Never Gonna Dance. Todd’s Broadway credits include Movin’ Out and The Phantom of the Opera.
