Target Margin Theater Announces Programming for 2026-27 Nonsense Season

Target Margin Theater has announced programming for its 2026-27 season. Framed around the idea of Nonsense, the season will ask the central question, “How can beauty, poetry, and new meaning be forged from the nonsense that surrounds us?”

The season will open with The Nonsense Lab (September 17-October 3), a three-week performance festival of new work that explores the theme of Nonsense. The festival will present three productions: Let Me Be an Animal by Caroline Fermin; We’ll Jump Off That Bridge When We Get There by Target Margin’s Associate Artistic Director Adam M. Kassim; and The Charnel House by Kathleen Kennedy Tobin.

Target Margin will later premiere Project 251, described as “a meditation on the future of our country.” Created by the company, and directed by Founding Artistic Director David Herskovits, the new work will open in March 2027 at The Doxsee, Target Margin’s home in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

The company will additionally honor Dominique Bravo and James Tigger! Ferguson at TMT Gala: Burlesque!, the company’s annual fundraiser. The performance series TMT hosts will also feature choreographer Morgan Thorson; new plays from Emma Horowitz & Bailey Williams and William Sydney; and The Exponential Festival featuring Amanda Hameline, Needy Lover, and Deepa Purohit. More artists are to be announced.

“Nonsense is complicated; it means many things,” says Herskovits. “My hope is that Project 251 and our Nonsense season will send folks out into the street newly alive to the world around them. What is our country, America? What should it be? How can I find or create new ways to consider what I am seeing or hearing these days?”
