South Coast Repertory (SCR) has announced the plays that will be part of its 2011-2012 season.
The year will begin with Joseph Hanreddy and J.R. Sullivan’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (September 9 – October 9), to be directed by Kyle Donnelly. Also on the company’s schedule are new productions of Horton Foote’s The Trip to Bountiful (October 21 – November 20), directed by Martin Benson, Suzan-Lori Parks’ Topdog/Underdog (January 8-29), directed by Seret Scott, Donald Margulies’ Sight Unseen (March 11 – April 1), directed by David Emmes, and August Wilson’s Jitney (May 11 – June 10).
The theater will also produce the regional premiere of Molly Smith Metzler’s Elemeno Pea (January 27 – February 26), as well as the world premieres of Catherine Trieschmann’s How the World Began (September 25 – October 16), directed by Daniella Topol, Steven Drukman’s The Prince of Atlantis (March 30 – April 29), and Octavio Solis and Adam Gwon’s Cloudlands (April 15 – May 6).
In addition to these productions, SCR will also offer its annual production of A Christmas Carol, directed by John-David Keller, to run November 26 – December 24), its annual Pacific Playwrights Festival, to run April 27-29, and a trio of productions as part of its Theatre for Young Audiences program.
