Michael Kimmel and Lauren Pritchard's Songbird, which is now playing at 59E59 Theaters, will extend its run through December 6. The production was originally scheduled to close on November 29. J.V. Mercanti directs.
Songbird, inspired by Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, tells the story of a fading country star who returns home to Nashville to help the son she abandoned launch his own career. Tony Award nominees Kate Baldwin (John & Jen) and Erin Dilly (A Christmas Story) lead the company, along with Kacie Sheik (Hair), Andy Taylor (Once), Ephie Aardema (The Bridges of Madison County), Adam Cochran (The Last Goodbye), Don Guillory (Stickfly), Drew McVety (The Last Ship), and Eric William Morris (Be More Chill).
The creative team is made up of Jason Sherwood (scenic design), Aaron Porter (lighting design), Mark Koss (costume design), and Justin Stasiw (sound design). Allison Bressi and Diana Buckhantz produce, by special association with Less Than Rent Theatre.
