On Monday night,
Gotham magazine hosted a launch party for Times Square’s recently renovated Renaissance Hotel. Among the luminaries were
Xanadu star Kerry Butler and Lindsay Price, star of the NBC series
Lipstick Jungle, on which Butler recently played her scheming assistant.
Xanadu co-star Cheyenne Jackson made an appearance before heading down to MCC’s Miscast benefit, where he brilliantly performed “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man” and “The Music That Makes Me Dance.”
Also on hand for the festivities were Spring Awakening star Jonathan Groff and former castmate Skylar Astin.
On Monday morning, the new Broadway musical A Catered Affair held a meet-and-greet at famed bridal store Kleinfeld’s. Stars Leslie Kritzer and Matt Cavenaugh, who play bride-and-groom-to-be Janey and Frank, posed outside in a vintage Checker Cab.
Tony Award winner Faith Prince and good pal Tom Wopat play Janey’s conflicted parents in the musical.
Director John Doyle, book writer and co-star Harvey Fierstein, and composer-lyricist John Bucchino are a decidedly talented trio.
On Sunday night, the Laurence Olivier Awards were held in London. International stars Chiwetel Eijofor and Kristen Scott Thomas took home top acting honors for their respective work in Othello and The Seagull.
Kelly Osbourne, who appeared as Mama Morton in the West End production of Chicago, was one of the evening’s presenters.

On Thursday, award-winning director Jack O’Brien had his caricature added to the wall at Sardi’s. Among his many friends on hand for the unveiling was playwright Tom Stoppard.
Patricia Conolly and Amy Irving co-starred in O’Brien’s production of Stoppard’s The Coast of Utopia at Lincoln Center.
Scott Wittman, Matthew Morrison, and Jerry Mitchell — who all worked with O’Brien on Hairspray — were joined by director Bartlett Sher, who’s helming the Lincoln Center revival of South Pacific featuring Morrison.
Thursday night, Disney Theatrical president Thomas Schumacher got his caricature at Sardi’s. On hand for the event were Little Mermaid stars Tituss Burgess, Sherie Rene Scott, and Sierra Boggess; Mary Poppins‘ Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee; and The Lion King‘s Kissy Simmons.
Finally, on Wednesday, March 5, Beebo Brinker Chronicles reopened at Off-Broadway’s 37 Arts Theatre. Celebrating after the show were actress-playwright Lisa Kron and the multi-talented Lily Tomin, one of the show’s producers.
Singer Suzanne Vega and Tony winner Cynthia Nixon were also part of the star-studded opening night audience.
