Sharon Playhouse will present the new musical comedy True Love on its Stage 2 from August 6-9. Artistic director John Simpkins helms the production.

Formerly titled Love Comics, True Love pays tribute to the legendary romance comics of the 1940s and 1950s — "a long lost era when eternally perfect love was every girl’s dream." The cast features Lael Van Keuren (Sister Act), Jason SweetTooth Williams (Bloodsong of Love), Jane Bruce (Elf), Reid Coe (West Side Story), and David Fanning.

The musical features a book by Sarah Schlesinger and David Evans, music by Evans, and lyrics by Schlesinger. The creative team also includes choreography by Simpkins and Abbey O’Brien, music direction by Joshua Zecher-Ross, scenic design by Lauren Mills, costume design by Michelle Eden Humphrey, and lighting design by Jamie Roderick.
