See Tony Nominee John Douglas Thompson Star in Hamlet
Performances of Carey Perloff's production of Hamlet starring Tony nominee John Douglas Thompson (Jitney) are underway at the American Conservatory Theater's Geary Theater. The production is scheduled to continue through October 15.
William Shakespeare's drama is described as follows: "Shattered by the mysterious death of his father, the king, and shamed by the unnatural acts of his mother, Hamlet’s despair has left him a devastated prince. When visited by the ghost of his father, who tells of the treasonous acts by Hamlet’s uncle, Hamlet vows to avenge the death that has brought a cloud of darkness over the castle. A classic tale of a family haunted by grief, power, and despair."
Thompson is joined in the cast by Graham Beckel (Player King, Gravedigger), Rivka Borek (Ophelia), Teagle F. Bougere (Laertes, Lucianus), Peter Fanone (Marcellus, Captain, Osric, Player Messenger), Anthony Fusco (Horatio), Dan Hiatt (Polonius), Steven Anthony Jones (Claudius, Ghost), Domenique Lozano (Gertrude), Adrianna Mitchell (Player Queen, Voltemand), Vincent J. Randazzo (Bernardo, Guildenstern, Priest), Teddy Spencer (Francisco, Rosencrantz, Gravedigger), and Jomar Tagatac (Fortinbras).
The creative team includes James F. Ingalls (lighting design), David Israel Reynoso (scenic and costume design), and Jake Rodriguez (sound design). Original music is composed by David Coulter.
