Primary Stages Announces Plays for its 2014 ESPA Drills Reading Series

Four new plays will receive readings at the Duke on 42nd Street.

Primary Stages' Einhorn School of Performing Arts has announced casting for its ESPA Drills Reading Series this August. The annual new play development program offers staged readings to four playwrights, with workshops under the guidance of the ESPA staff and presentations for audiences of industry peers off-Broadway at the The Duke on 42nd Street.

The first presentation will be Rachael Jenison's Mexico, directed by Jerry Ruiz, scheduled for a performance on August 18 at 5pm. The cast will feature David Anzuelo, Elizabeth Belonzi, Stephen Dexter, Jessica Luck, and John Wernke.

On August 18 at 8pm will be a presentation of A Small History of Amal by Amal, Age 7, written by Lindsay Joelle and directed by Lisa Peterson. The cast will include Meetu Chilana, Sanjit DeSilva, Mahira Kakkar, Deepa Purohit, Debargo Sanyal, Vishal Vaidya, and Stephen Alan Wilson.

The third presentation of the series will be Kat Ramsburg's The Amelia Episodes, set for a performance on August 19 at 5pm. Directed by GT Upchurch, the cast will include Philip Guerette, Joel Haberli, Kathryn Kates, Brittany Lee McDonald, and Molly Ward.

The final reading will be Nat Cassidy's Any Day Now, directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel, and set for a performance on August 19 at 8pm. The cast will feature Heidi Armbruster, Mike Callahan, Chris Henry Coffey, Lynn Cohen, Johanna Day, Hannah Ginsberg, Michael Laurence, Kelley Rae O'Donnell, Colin Ryan, and Amie Tedesco.
