PHOTO FLASH: Blythe Danner, Boyd Gaines, Amy Irving, Cherry Jones Attend The Road to Mecca Opening

On Tuesday, January 17, Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of Athol Fugard’s The Road to Mecca opened at the American Airlines Theatre.

Opening night guests included Becky Ann Baker, Blythe Danner, Santino Fontana, Boyd Gaines, Sheldon Harnick, Edward Hibbert, Susan Hilferty, Cherry Jones, Amy Irving, Judith Ivey, Byron Jennings, Kathleen Marshall, Elaine May, Carolyn McCormick, and Tony Roberts.

Under the direction of Gordon Edelstein, the production stars Jim Dale, Carla Gugino and Rosemary Harris. The play centers on a South African widow who is befriended by a young teacher and a local priest.
