Academy Award winner and stage veteran Patty Duke will guest star next season on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva according to TVGuide.com. She will play Rita O’Reily, a career floor-greeter who is fired after heroically stopping a shoplifter, whose case is taken on by Jane (played by Brooke Elliott).
Other guest stars will who appear in the series, which begins reairing this summer, including Tony Award nominee Valerie Harper, who reprises her role as Judge Singer, Megyn Price, and Kelly Rutherford.
Duke made her Broadway debut as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker and recreated her performance in the film version, earning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her other Broadway appearances include Isle of Children and Oklahoma!, and she played Madame Morrible in the San Francisco company of Wicked.
