Douglas Carter Beane’s newest play receives its world premiere at Lincoln Center Theater.
Lincoln Center Theater has released photos from its world-premiere production of Shows for Days, a new play by Tony nominee Douglas Carter Beane. The backstage comedy began performances on June 6 and will open on June 29 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Jerry Zaks directs.
Shows for Days follows Car (Michael Urie), a 14-year-old Reading, Pennsylvania native introduced to the world of theater at his local community theater, the Prometheus, an organization led by Irene (Patti LuPone), a force of nature who directs, designs, and stars in every play. The play is described as author Douglas Carter Beane’s "fond remembrance of his immersion into a life in the theater." The cast also includes Dale Soules, Jordan Dean, Lance Coadie Williams, and Zoë Winters.
Shows for Days features sets by John Lee Beatty, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Natasha Katz, and sound by Leon Rothenberg.
