Kultur Film and Video releases Nunset Boulevard: The Nunsense Hollywood Bowl Show on DVD today, Tuesday, May 29.
Created by Dan Goggin, the musical follows the latest exploits of The Little Sisters of Hoboken, who have been invited to perform at the Hollywood Bowl. They are thrilled at the prospect until they arrive and realize that they are booked into the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama – a bowling alley with a cabaret lounge – and not the famed “Bowl” they were imagining.
Fifty percent of the proceeds from DVD sales will be donated to The Benedictine Abbey of Regina Laudis to support Mother Dolores Hart and the Benedictines. Hart is a central figure in Nunset Boulevard and the subject of HBO’s Academy Award-nominated documentary God is the Bigger Elvis. The former brass factory that houses the order, which was established in 1947, needs approximately $4 million dollars worth of renovations to meet fire and safety codes and make much-needed handicap accessibility upgrades.
The cast of Nunset Boulevard features Bonnie Lee as Rev. Mother, Bambi Jones as Sr. Mary Hubert, Deborah Del Mastro as Sr. Robert Anne, Jeanne Tinker as Sr. Mary Paul (Amnesia), Stephanie Wahl as Sr. Mary Leo, and Ron Rogell as Earl-Dean Snedeker.
As previously reported, Nunset Boulevard will embark on a multi-city national tour during the 2012-2013 season starring TV icon Cindy Williams as Mother Superior.
