Sam Gold will direct Jackson, Ruth Wilson, Jayne Houdyshell, and more in this new take on Shakespeare’s tragedy.
Broadway's King Lear has announced the full cast of its production of Shakespeare's tragedy, directed by Sam Gold, beginning performances at the Cor Theatre tonight, February 28, and running through July 7, with opening night set for April 4.
Joining the previously announced Glenda Jackson as Lear is Michael Arden (Once on This Island) as the Aide to Cornwall, Justin Cunningham (Little Rock) as the Duke of Burgundy, Dion Johnstone (Coriolanus) as the Duke of Albany, and Ian Lassiter (Junk) as the King of France.
Other previously announced cast members include Ruth Wilson (Cordelia and Fool), Jayne Houdyshell (Earl of Gloucester), Elizabeth Marvel (Goneril), Aisling O'Sullivan (Regan), Pedro Pascal (Edmund), John Douglas Thompson (Earl of Kent), Sean Carvajal (Edgar), Russell Harvard (Duke of Cornwall), Matthew Maher (Oswald). Che Ayende, Therese Barbato, Stephanie Roth Haberle, Daniel Marmion, and John McGinty are ensemble members.
The creative team includes Miriam Buether (scenic design), Ann Roth (costume design), Jane Cox (lighting design), and Scott Lehrer (sound design).
