The Broadway musical plays the Shubert Theatre.
Producers of the the Broadway musical Matilda announced today that Matt Harrington and two-time Tony nominee Christopher Sieber will join the company. Harrington will take over for Gabriel Ebert, who won a 2013 Tony Award for his performance as Mr. Wormwood. Sieber will step into the heels of evil school teacher Miss Trunchbull.
Harrington can currently be seen in the revivals of Twelfth Night and Richard III on Broadway. He will begin performances as Mr. Wormwood on Tuesday, March 4.
Sieber, who will play 54 Below on February 4 and February 11, will begin as Miss Trunchbull on Tuesday, March 18.
They join a cast that also includes Karen Aldridge as Mrs. Phelps, Lesli Margherita as Mrs. Wormwood, Jill Paice as Miss Honey, and the four girls who share the title role: Paige Brady, Gabriella Pizzolo, Ripley Sobo, and Ava Ulloa.
Matilda, directed by Matthew Warchus, features a Tony-winning book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.
