HERO Theatre has announced additional casting for the benefit staged reading of William Shakespeare’s King Lear, to be presented May 21 at 7:30pm at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre/Laura Pels Theatre. As previously announced, Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis will play the title role and Austin Pendleton will direct.
The reading is part of the company’s fundraising efforts to present its first full-scale production, a world-premiere of a new translation of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters, translated by noted Russian writer Tatyana Tolstaya and distinguished playwright Migdalia Cruz.
The cast will also feature Louis Cancelmi, Lynn Cohen, Dashiell Eaves, Paul Lazar, and George Morfogen as well as Elisa Bocanegra, Seth Duerr, Korey Jackson, Albert Jones, Thomas Kopache, James Martinez, Desirée Matthews, Anya Migdal, Liam Mitchell, and Bobby Plasencia.
