The Saturday matinee, February 19 performance of Brooklyn The Musical at the Plymouth Theater was canceled because both Ramona Keller, who plays the role of Paradice, and her understudy, Haneefah Wood, were too ill to perform.

According to an agent at the Plymouth Theater box office, Romelda Benjamin — who appeared in the pre-Broadway run of Brooklyn at the Denver Civic Theatre and who was featured in the recent New York production of the pop opera Bare — played the role of Paradice last evening on a few hours’ notice. An audience member reported that Benjamin performed with script in hand. All of this information was subsequently confirmed by a production source.

Directed by Jeff Calhoun, with musical direction by John McDaniel, Brooklyn has a book, music, and lyrics by Mark Schoenfeld and Barri McPherson. The show also stars Kevin Anderson, Cleavant Derricks, Eden Espinosa, and Karen Olivo.
