Krapp, 39, a solo play written and performed by Michael Laurence, will run at the SoHo Playhouse, January 13-March 15, while Mark Sam Rosenthal’s solo piece Blanche Survives Katrina in a FEMA Trailer Named Desire will run January 15-March 15.
The theater’s current tenant, Mindgame, starring Keith Carradine, will play its final performance on Sunday, December 28.
Krapp, 39, which will open officially on January 22, will be directed by George Demas. Previously seen in New York as part of the New York International Fringe Festival, the work is inspired by Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape and deals with an actor examining his own quixotic life on his 39th birthday. Laurence’s recent New York credits include Two Rooms, Opus, and Talk Radio; his other stage credits include The Rainmaker and Humpty Dumpty.
Blanche, which will open officially on January 25, will be directed by Todd Parmley.
Previously seen in New York as part of the New York International Fringe Festival, the work imagines that Blanche DuBois, the heroine of A Streetcar Named Desire, has not aged and is in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hits.
