Ghostlight Records will release the new album later this season.
Ghostlight Records has announced plans to release the Broadway cast recording of Kimberly Akimbo, which officially opens tomorrow at the Booth Theatre.
Based on David Lindsay-Abaire's 2001 play about a young woman with a rare condition that causes her to appear much older, Kimberly Akimbo features new music by Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home) and lyrics by Lindsay-Abaire. TheaterMania's review of the off-Broadway run called this musical comedy, "pretty damn delightful."
The Broadway company of Kimberly Akimbo features the company from that Atlantic Theater world premiere production: Tony Award winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) as Kimberly, Justin Cooley (Broadway debut), Tony Award nominee Steven Boyer (Hand to God), Alli Mauzey (Wicked), Bonnie Milligan (Head Over Heels), Olivia Elease Hardy (Broadway debut), Fernell Hogan (The Prom), Michael Iskander (Broadway debut), and Nina White (Broadway debut).
An exact date for the album drop has not been revealed, but you and pre-save the album for streaming here.
And to hold you over, here's a video of Bonnie Milligan recording her showstopping number "Better":
