HighTide Festival Theatre has announced full casting for its HideTide Festival, to run May 3-13.
The festival’s highlights will include Laura Poliakoff’s new play Clockwork, directed by Steven Atkinson and designed by Richard Kent, with a cast featuring Rachel Atkins, Shomarri Diaz, Kern Falconer, Russell Floyd, and Matilda Ziegler. Bruce Guthrie will direct Louise Brealey, Susan Brown, Brendan Coyle, Steven Miller, Alison Newman, Lesley Nicol, and Prasanna Puwanarajah in Stephanie Street’s Seizing Cinderella.
Ella Hickson’s Boys will be directed by Robert Icke and designed by Chloe Lamford and will feature Samuel Edward Cook, Alison O’Donnell, Danny Kirrane, Lorn Macdonald, Tom Mothersdale, and Eve Ponsonby. Will Wrightson will direct Vickie Donoghue’s debut play Mudlarks, which will be designed by Amy Cook and feature Scott Hazel, James Marchant, and Mike Noble. HighTide will also welcome Mike Daisey, who will present his The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs, directed by Jean-Michele Gregory.
Additionally, HighTide Festival will present a series of HighMind Talks, which will include ‘Art, Truth and Journalism’ (May 5), featuring With Libby Purves, Ben Hammersley, and Jean-Michele Gregory and hosted by Will Gompertz. Will Gompertz will also interview actress Juliet Stevenson for ‘Juliet Stevenson In Conversation’ (May 6). HighTide will present the broadcaster, actor, writer, and comedian in ‘Griff Rhys Jones In Conversation’ (May 12). Finally novelists Owen Jones, Alan Bissett, and the playwright Ella Hickson will come together for a discussion ‘On Class Warfare’ (May 13).
