Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Allison Janney to Star in Broadway Revival of Other Desert Cities

A Broadway revival of Jon Robin Baitz’s 2011 play Other Desert Cities is on tap for the Hudson Theatre, beginning September 29 in advance of an October 18 opening at the Hudson Theatre.

The limited engagement will end Sunday, January 17, 2027.

John Benjamin Hickey will direct the drama, which is set to feature an all-star cast led by Julia Louis-Dreyfus in her Broadway debut, alongside Ed Harris, Allison Janney, Joe Keery, and Lily Rabe.

In Other Desert Cities, a novelist (Rabe) returns home after a six-year absence to celebrate Christmas in Palm Springs with her parents (Louis-Dreyfus and Harris), former members of the Reagan inner-circle. When she announces plans to publish a memoir focusing on an explosive chapter in the family’s history, the holiday reunion is thrown into turmoil. The original Broadway production featured Stockard Channing, Stacey Keach, Judith Light, Thomas Sadoski, and Rachel Griffiths.
