Obie Award winner Taibi Magar directs the play at Philadelphia Theatre Company.

Philadelphia Theatre Company (PTC) will present the world premiere of Wilderness Generation, a new play by James Ijames, whose play Fat Ham earned the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The production, directed by PTC co-artistic
director and Obie Award winner Taibi Magar, runs April 10-May 3, with an opening night on April 15, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre.
Wilderness Generation brings four cousins together at their grandmother’s house in the Tidewater South to decide the future of the family home over the course of a weekend. Laughter, memories, and long-held tensions collide as the cousins grapple with questions of inheritance, legacy, and whether preservation means holding on or learning to let go.
Ijames returns to PTC after receiving the company’s 2015 Terrence McNally Award for his play White.
The cast of Wilderness Generation includes Lindsay Smiling as Micah, Brenson Thomas as Smitty, Jessica Johnson as Nicole, Heather Alicia Simms as Ramona, and Abdul Sesay as Donovan.
The creative team includes scenic designer Matt Saunders, costume designer Kara Harmon, lighting designer Thom Weaver, projections designer Taj Rauch, sound designer Christopher Darbassie, and wig designer Katherine Casalino.
