Hartford Stage and TheaterWorks Hartford will present a co-production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s <i>Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street</i> running June 5–July 5. at Hartford Stage.
Directed by TheaterWorks Hartford artistic director Rob Ruggiero, the intimate staging of the musical thriller will star Matt Faucher as the vengeful barber Sweeney Todd and Jackie Burns as pie shop proprietor Mrs. Lovett.
They will be joined by Carey Brown (Beggar Woman), Willem Butler (Anthony Hope), Tristan David Caldwell (Adolfo Pirelli/Jonas Fogg), Lauren Maria Medina (Johanna), Brian Ray Norris (Beadle Bamford), Cole Thompson (Tobias Ragg), and Edward Watts (Judge Turpin).
The creative team includes choreographer Ralph Perkins and music director Wiley DeWeese, with scenic design by Luke Cantarella, costumes by Fabian Aguilar, lighting by John Lasiter, sound by Beth Lake, wig, hair, and makeup design by J. Jared Janas, dialect and vocal coaching by Jennifer Scapetis-Tycer, and intimacy and fight direction by Michael Rossmy.
