Rebecca Taichman will direct Paula Vogel’s Tony-nominated drama at the Huntington Theatre Company and the Ahmanson Theatre.
Original cast members Mimi Lieber, Steven Rattazzi, Richard Topol, and Adina Verson will headline the Ahmanson Theatre and Huntington Theatre Company coproduction of Paula Vogel's Indecent, directed by Tony winner Rebecca Taichman. The Huntington production in Boston will run April 26-May 25, with the Ahmanson run in Los Angeles taking place June 5-July 7.
Lieber, Rattazzi, Topol, and Verson will reprise performances they originated on Broadway. Joining them will be Tony nominees Harry Groener and Elizabeth A. Davis, and Joby Earle. Original musicians Matt Darriau and Lisa Gutkin will be joined for the new engagements by Patrick Farrell.
Vogel and Taichman have reassembled the Broadway creative team, which includes David Dorfman (choreography); Riccardo Hernandez (sets); Emily Rebholz (costumes); Matt Hubbs (sound design); Tal Yarden (projection design); and Christopher Akerlind, who won a Tony for his lighting.
Inspired by the 1923 Broadway debut of Sholem Asch's drama God of Vengeance and the controversy that surrounded its themes of censorship, immigration, and anti-Semitism, Vogel's Tony-nominated play explores the behind-the-scenes story of the courageous artists who risked their careers and lives to perform this piece of theater under the most challenging circumstances.
