Howard McGillin Joins Betty Buckley for Grey Gardens at Bay Street Theater

The Tony-nominated actor comes to Long Island straight from the Broadway revival of ”Gigi”.

Tony nominee Howard McGillin, fresh from the Broadway revival of Gigi, will join the cast of Grey Gardens at Sag Harbor's Bay Street Theater. He takes on the role of George Gould Strong opposite Tony Award winner Betty Buckley (Cats) and Drama Desk Award winner Rachel York (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), who star as Big Edie and Little Edie Bouvier Beale.

McGillin and Buckley previously starred together in the original 1985 Tony Award-winning production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. McGillin's additional Broadway credits include The Phantom of the Opera, Kiss of the Spider Woman, She Loves Me, The Secret Garden, Anything Goes, and Sunday in the Park With George.

Based on the 1975 documentary film of the same name by Albert and David Maysles, tells the story of Big Edie (Buckley) and Little Edie Beale (York), a mother and daughter who ended up living as recluses in a run-down Long Island mansion. The musical version features a book by Doug Wright and a score by Michael Korie and Scott Frankel.

Michael Wilson (The Trip to Bountiful) helms the production, which will run August 4-30. The company also includes Gracie Beardsley (Jacqueline), Matt Doyle (Joe/Jerry), James Harkness (Brooks Sr./Brooks Jr.), Sarah Hunt (Young Edie), Simon Jones (Major/Peale), and Dakota Quackenbush (Lee).
