The iconic musical is now running at North Shore Music Theatre.
Isobel Lennart, Jule Styne, and Bob Merrill's classic musical Funny Girl is running now through June 19 at North Shore Music Theatre, where Broadway veteran Shoshana Bean stars as Ziegfeld icon Fanny Brice.
Joining Bean in the cast are Bradley Dean (Nick Arnstein), Susan Cella (Mrs. Brice), Rick Faugno (Eddie Ryan), Brittney Morello (Emma), Sandy Rosenberg (Mrs. Strakosh), and James Van Treuren (Florenz Ziegfeld Jr.). The company also includes Purdie Bauman, Courtney Brady, J.D. Daw, Brandon Haagenson, Kimber Hampton, Brooke Lacy, Kathleen LaMagna, Con O'Shea-Creal, Ellen Peterson, Emily Jeanne Phillips, Robbie Smith, Richard Vida, and David Visini.
Funny Girl tells the story of performer Fanny Brice and her rise from the stages of vaudeville to become a world-renowned Ziegfeld star. The original 1964 Broadway production famously starred Barbra Streisand, who reprised the role in the 1968 film. The musical features a book by Isobel Lennart, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Bob Merrill.
Directed and choreographed by James Brennan, the creative team for the North Shore Music Theatre production includes Mark Hartman (music direction), Austin Davey (assistant music direction), Stephen Dobay (scenic design), Mark Nagle (costume coordination), Jack Mehler (lighting design), and Charles Coes (sound design).
