Center Stage Records will release the debut album by Claybourne Elder, If the Stars Were Mine, on all digital and streaming platforms tomorrow, April 3. The physical CD comes out on April 10, and an vinyl album will be released later this year. You can pre-order the album, or pre-save it for streaming here.

Elder is known to television audiences for his portrayal of John Adams on HBO’s The Gilded Age. He was most recently seen on Broadway in the revival of Company, starring Patti LuPone. He just completed a run in the Encores! presentation of The Wild Party, delivering a performance as the villainous playboy Jackie that TheaterMania’s critic described as “chaotic and sexually aggressive.”

He can next been seen live at 54 Below, where he will give a series of performances coinciding with the debut of the album.

Until then, you can enjoy an exclusive first listen to track number 2, the George Merrill and Shannon Ω© song “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” first made famous by Whitney Houston. With this mellow and achingly sincere interpretation, Elder makes the song completely his own.
