Guiding Light Stars Robert Newman, Grant Aleksander Join Perfect Crime

The long-running murder mystery is about to enter its 33rd year of performances.

Guiding Light stars Robert Newman and Grant Aleksander will both take on the role of Detective James Ascher in Perfect Crime at the Theater Center. Newman will play the role now through May 8 and May 24-June 16, while Aleksander will take on the role May 10-22 and June 17-30.

The cast also includes David Butler, Dan Sharkey, Patrick Robustelli, and Catherine Russell, who originated the role of Margaret Brent and has played every performance but four since the play opened in April 1987.

Perfect Crime is the longest-running play in New York City's history. Written by Warren Manzi and directed by Jeffrey Hyatt, the thriller is set in the home of a wealthy psychiatrist who is accused of murdering her husband. The handsome detective thinks he has it all figured out, but her husband's murder is only the beginning in what may just be the perfect crime.
