David Javerbaum is the author of the new comedy at Studio 54.
Emmy winner Jim Parsons and the team behind the new Broadway comedy An Act of God met the press on May 14 at Studio 54, where the show began performances on May 5. Opening night for the Joe Mantello-directed production is scheduled for May 28.
Written by David Javerbaum, An Act of God is inspired by the best-selling book The Last Testament: A Memoir by God as well as by author and playwright Javerbaum's Twitter feed, The Tweet of God. The play follows the Almighty and His angels as they answer some of the deepest questions that have plagued mankind since creation.
Joining Parsons are two-time Drama Desk Award winner Christopher Fitzgerald (Finian's Rainbow) as the angel Michael and Tim Kazurinsky (Saturday Night Live) as the angel Gabriel. David Josefsberg (Honeymoon in Vegas) serves as the production's standby.
