Billy Crudup of Broadway’s ”Waiting for Godot” shares his thoughts on the eternal question of pronunciation.
It’s one of the major questions of theater history: Is the title of Samuel Beckett’s absurdist masterpiece Waiting for Godot pronounced “God-oh” or “Guh-dough”? We asked Billy Crudup, one of the stars of the upcoming Broadway revival of the drama, to share his thoughts, and he’s got a lot of them. Samuel Beckett, apparently, pronounced it “God-oh.” But really, does that matter when your stars are Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart? (P.S. We prefer “Guh-dough,” but nobody asked us.)
