General Hospital‘s John Ingle Has Died

John Ingle, who gained fame as Edward Quartermaine on ABC’s top-rated daytime drama General Hospital, has died in Los Angeles at 84.

Ingle taught theater and acting at Hollywood High School and then Beverly Hills High School for over 30 years, where his students included, Richard Dreyfuss, Joanna Gleason, Barbara Hershey, Swoosie Kurtz, Stefanie Powers, David Schwimmer, and Julie Kavner.

He began his acting career doing guest spots in 1980s, before joining General Hospital, where he played Edward on and off for a nearly 20-year period. He also had a recurring role on The Drew Carey Show and played Mickey Horton on NBC’s Days of Our Lives from 2004-2006.

Ingle is survived by his children.
