The Tony nominee originated the role of Bert, the chimney sweep, in Disney’s ”Mary Poppins” on Broadway.
Broadway veteran Gavin Lee will assume the role of Ted Hanover for the four final weeks of Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn, now running through December 28 at Goodspeed Opera House. Lee will replace Noah Racey in the role.
Inspired by the Fred Astaire-Bing Crosby film of the same title, Holiday Inn tells the story of a Connecticut farmhouse that is transformed into a holiday nightspot. The score includes classic tunes like "Easter Parade," "Happy Holiday," and "White Christmas." The stage musical features a book by Chad Hodge and Gordon Greenberg, who also directs.
Danny Rutigliano stars as Danny Reed. Patti Murin costars as Linda Mason, with Tally Sessions as Jim Hardy, Hayley Podschun as Lila Dixon, Susan Mosher as Louise, and Noah Marlow as Charlie Winslow.
Lee recently returned from London where he was playing the Fred Astaire role in the musical Top Hat. On Broadway and national tour, Lee played Bert in Disney's Mary Poppins. He earned a Tony nomination for his performance.
