
The Folksbiene Yiddish Theatre will present its Lifetime Achievement Award to actor Fyvush Finkel at a benefit gala to be held on Sunday, October 30 at NYU’s Kimmel Center Rosenthal Pavilion (60 Washington Square South), beginning at 6pm. Clair Barry of The Barry Sisters will also be honored during the event.
Finkel began his career more than 50 years ago in the Yiddish theater. In the 1960s, he joined the national company of Fiddler on the Roof. Other career highlights include the original production of Little Shop of Horrors, Café Crown (for which he earned an Obie Award), and From Second Avenue to Broadway. The actor is best known to television audiences as Douglas Wambaugh in Picket Fences (for which role he won an Emmy Award) and Harvey Lipschultz in Boston Public. Finkel recently released a solo recording titled It’s Never Too Late.
