Full Cast Announced for Broadway’s On a Clear Day You Can See Forever

Full casting has been announced for Broadway’s On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, which will begin previews at the St. James Theatre on November 12, prior to an official opening on December 11. Tony Award winner Michael Mayer has reconceived and will direct the musical, which features a new book by Peter Parnell, based on the original book by Alan Jay Lerner.

The musical centers on Dr. Mark Bruckner, a dashing psychiatrist who is still in love with his deceased wife. He takes on the case of David Gamble, a quirky young florists’ assistant, and while putting David under hypnosis to help him quit smoking, Dr. Bruckner stumbles upon what he believes to be David’s former self — a dazzling and self-possessed 1940’s jazz singer Melinda Wells. Instantly intrigued by Melinda, Dr. Bruckner finds himself swept up in the pursuit of a love affair with this woman from another time and place, while David, in turn, falls for Mark.

As previously reported, the musical will star Grammy and Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Harry Connick, Jr. as Dr. Mark Bruckner, David Turner as David Gamble and, in her Broadway debut, Jessie Mueller as Melinda Wells.

The cast will also feature Kerry O’Malley as Sharone, Drew Gehling as Warren, Sarah Stiles as Muriel, Paul O’Brien, Heather Ayers, Lori Wilner, Benjamin Eakeley, Alex Ellis, Tyler Maynard, Zachary Prince, Alysha Umphress, Kendal Hartse, Philip Hoffman, Sean Allan Krill, Patrick O’Neill, and Christianne Tisdale.

The creative team will include JoAnn M. Hunter (choreography), Christine Jones (sets), Catherine Zuber (costumes), Kevin Adams (lighting), Peter Hylenski (sound), Tom Watson (hair), Lawrence Yurman (music director & arrangements) and Doug Besterman (orchestrations).

This reimagined production will now feature selections from both the original show’s Tony Award-nominated score by Burton Lane and Alan Jay Lerner, as well as selections from their score for the film version, and selections from their score to the film Royal Wedding.
