Flashdance, a musical adaptation of the 1983 film, is aiming to arrive on Broadway in spring of 2013 rather than the previously reported Fall 2012, according to The New York Times.
The Times cites lead producer Marc Routh as saying that the decision was due to a lack of available Broadway theaters in the fall, and the fact that more work needs to be done before bringing the show into New York.
Sergio Trujillo is directing and choreographing the production, which will feature original music by Robbie Roth and Robert Cary, and a book by Cary and Tom Hadley, along with songs from the film.
The movie centers on a female welder, who falls in love with a man whose family owns the steel plant where she works.
