Bill Dawes and William Connell depict the relationship between ballet star Rudolf Nureyev and painter Jamie Wyeth.
Nureyev’s Eyes is now in performances at the George Street Playhouse.
Based on the real relationship formed between ballet star Rudolf Nureyev and painter Jamie Wyeth, the show chronicles the rise of the unexpected friendship.
From 1977 until Nureyev's death in 1993, Wyeth created hundreds of portraits of the storied dancer. Their mutual struggle for perfection and battles with personal demons bring the two together despite their many differences. Through his efforts to capture the essence of the ballet icon, Wyeth makes an unexpected breakthrough, which shows him what has always been right in front of him.
Written by David Rush and directed by Michael Mastro, the cast features William Connell as Jamie Wyeth and Bill Dawes as Rudolf Nureyev.
