Glee star Darren Criss will begin performances tonight for his limited 12-week engagement in Broadway's Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Criss replaces coauthor and original Hedwig John Cameron Mitchell, who has been in the lead role since January 22.

Criss will star opposite Rebecca Naomi Jones, who plays the role of Hedwig's roadie husband, Yitzhak. Jones took over the part from Tony winner Lena Hall, who played her final performance on April 4.

Directed by Michael Mayer and featuring musical staging by Spencer Liff, Hedwig and the Angry Inch features a score by Stephen Trask, a book by Mitchell, and designs by Julian Crouch (set), Arianne Phillips (costumes), Kevin Adams (lighting), Mike Potter (hair and makeup), Timothy O'Heir (sound), Ethan Popp (music supervision), Liz Caplan (vocal supervision), and Johanna McKeon (associate director). Justin Craig serves as musical director of The Angry Inch band, alongside Justin Craig (guitar and keyboards), Matt Duncan (bass), Tim Mislock (guitar), and Peter Yanowitz (drums).

The musical follows the titular transgender rock performer as she recounts her life during a concert at Broadway's Belasco Theatre, where the musical runs.
