Theatre World Award winner Carla Gugino will be joined by Caroline Aaron, Michelle Beck, and Peter Grosz in the cast of the upcoming LCT3 world premiere production of A Kid Like Jake, a new play by Daniel Pearle. Evan Cabnet directs. A Kid Like Jake begins previews Sunday, June 2, opens Monday, June 17, and will run through Sunday, July 14 at Lincoln Center Theater’s Claire Tow Theater.

A Kid Like Jake is the story of a husband and wife trying to do right by their son. Alex (Gugino) and her husband, Greg (Peter Grosz), want only the best for their precocious four-year-old, Jake. When they apply to New York City private schools, part of what makes Jake special — his passion for Cinderella and dress-up — starts to cause concern.

A Kid Like Jake has sets by Andromache Chalfant, costumes by Jessica Wegener Shay, lighting by Japhy Weideman, and sound by Jill BC DuBoff.

Daniel Pearle’s plays include Bel Canto, Tearin’ Up My Heart, and Plunder. His short play The Truth About Christmas was a winner at the 2011 Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Short Play Festival and is published and licensed by Samuel French.

Evan Cabnet directed the LCT3 production of All-American. Other credits include Broadway’s The Performers and Off-Broadway’s Warrior Class (Second Stage Theatre), Outside People (Vineyard Theatre), The Dream of the Burning Boy (Roundabout), and The Mistakes Madeline Made (Naked Angels). Regional credits include productions at the Goodman Theatre, Denver Center, Long Wharf Theater, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

LCT3 was established in 2008 by Lincoln Center Theater as a programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists as well as developing new audiences. Tickets to all LCT3 productions are $20. Past LCT3 productions include Ayad Ahktar’s Disgraced, winner of the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and Amy Herzog’s 4000 Miles, a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize.
