Broadway Bares, the much-anticipated event that finds Broadway performers giving — and baring — their all for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS raised $450,000 on Sunday with Broadway Bares 13: Burlesque is Back!
The show, which was hosted by Hairspray stars and recent Tony Award winners Harvey Fierstein and Marissa Jaret Winokur, featured over 200 dancers from Aida, Cabaret, Chicago, Gypsy, Hairspray, Movin’ Out, The Lion King, The Producers, Mamma Mia! and more, in addition to special guest performances from Jane Krakowski (Nine), Kate Buddeke, Julie Halston, and Heather Lee from Gypsy, and Broadway legend Eartha Kitt.
The show was directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray), who conceived and organized the event while he was appearing in the 1991 musical The Will Rogers Follies.
