Music icon Billy Joel has added a record-shattering 25th consecutive concert to his ongoing residency at Madison Square Garden. The show, set for January 7, 2016, will be Joel's 71st performance at the venue.

Joel's legendary catalogue was used as the basis for the musical Movin' Out, for which Joel won a Tony Award for Best Orchestrations. He is the first artist to simultaneously hold — and break — his own records for both the "Longest Run of Any Artist" and "Most Number of Performances By Any Artist" at the venue.

In December 2013, Joel joined Madison Square Garden's other franchises, including the New York Knicks and Rangers, to become the venue's first-ever music franchise. He is the recipient of six Grammy Awards, the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, and a Kennedy Center Honor, among other distinctions. His songs include "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Vienna," and "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant."
