Barrett, Hilsabeck, et al. to Join Karen Mason in Westchester Gypsy

Principal cast and creative team have been announced for the classic Arthur Laurents-Jule Styne-Stephen Sondheim musical Gypsy at the Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford, New York, May 31-August 4. The production, which will open officially on June 8, will be directed by Richard Stafford.

In addition to previously announced star Karen Mason as Mama Rose, the cast will feature Rick Hilsabeck as Herbie, Kelli Barrett as Louise, Sarah Peak as June, Inga Ballard as Mazeppa, Katherine Kendall as Electra, Ann Ngaire-Martin as Tessie, Jordan Nichols as Tulsa, Kayla Vanderbilt as Baby June, and Alexandra Bradsell as Young Louise.

The creative team will feature John Daniels (musical direction), George Puellos and Steven Loftus (sets), Gail Baldoni (costumes), Andrew Gmoser (lighting), and Jonathan Hatton (sound).

Mason’s Broadway credits include Mamma Mia!, in which she originated the role of Tanya, Sunset Boulevard, in which she starred as Norma Desmond, and Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. Her Off-Broadway and regional credits include And the World Goes Round, Carnival, and Gypsy. She is a popular cabaret star and recording artist, and recently received the MAC Board of Directors Award.

Stafford choreographed the Broadway musical In My Life. His numerous regional credits as director/choreographer include Beauty and the Beast, Fame, Singin’ in the Rain, and The Full Monty. He received the Barrymore Award for his choreography on La Cage Aux Folles.
