It has been announced that Avenue Q, which opened to rave reviews at the Vineyard Theatre last week, will have an extended run. Originally scheduled to close on April 6 at the Vineyard, it will now play through April 27.
An adult musical take-off of the popular children’s television show Sesame Street, the show tells the story of 20-something people and puppets trying to find happiness and purpose in New York City. Avenue Q features music and lyrics by Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez, a book by Jeff Whitty, puppet design by Rick Lyon, and direction by Jason Moore.
Is his review of Avenue Q for TheaterMania, Philip Hopkins wrote: “With a stellar young cast, hilarious lyrics and book, and spit-polished, spoofical songs, Avenue Q is a hit in the making.”
