Avenue Q celebrated the show's 15th anniversary performance on Tuesday, July 31. Leading up to the milestone performance, Avenue Q held two weeks of unique performances at New World Stages as members of the musical's legendary original Broadway company and other Avenue Q alumni returned to perform.

Avenue Q has music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, a book by Jeff Whitty, and is directed by Jason Moore. Based on an original concept by Lopez and Marx, the show features puppets conceived and designed by Rick Lyon. Avenue Q premiered off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre in March of 2003 before transferring to Broadway's John Golden Theatre, where it opened July 31 of that same year. It is the recipient of Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Original Score.
